Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1865 PCGS MS-65 (green label) CACCAC
Lot Number: 743
Description: Mintage: 3700. 5 graded MS-65, 10 higher at PCGS. From an era of gold dollar production that saw low mintages but fair survival rates, the 1865 isn't quite as scarce as one might expect from a Civil War issue. Still, this is a superior gem example that features gorgeous butterscotch-gold patina gently layered over a flashing, brilliant surface. Lovely ruby-gold toning has accumulated over much of the reverse. As is usually the case for type-3 gold dollars of limited production, each side provides significant prooflike character, with fields showing considerable die polish.
