Lot Title: Washington quarter set 1932 to 1959, all but eight NGC certified
Lot Number: 446
Description: Hal Dennis Consignment. Aside from the fact that these are consistently certified in brand-new NGC EdgeView holders, the visual impact of this collection wouldn't be easy to overstate. The consignor, obviously a collector of discerning tastes and astute knowledge, expended considerable effort to build a set of classy, lustrous uncirculated pieces, and one can find almost nothing to fault as a result. Of the early quarters in the series, many highlights require mention, specifically: 1932-D (UNC/cleaned, light hairlines flowing left to right across the portrait), 1932-S (MS-63, delicate almond-beige, obverse a tad nicer than MS-63 but a couple of central contact points on the reverse), 1934 HEAVY motto (MS-66, population = 60 in MS-66, just 16 finer at NGC, un-designated on the slab), 1934-D (MS-63), 1935-D (MS-64), 1935-S (MS-65, shimmering apricot-gold), 1936 (MS-66, extraordinary white frost), 1936-D (MS-62, substantially better strike and luster than expected, but slightly chippy obverse), 1936-S (MS-65, pale gold), 1937 (MS-65), 1937-D (MS-64), 1937-S (MS-64), 1938 (MS-66, champagne tone), 1938-S (MS-65, remarkable bright yellow-bronze), 1939 (MS-66), 1939-D (MS-65), 1939-S (MS-63), 1940 (MS-66), 1940-D (MS-64), and 1940-S (MS-65). Next is a lengthy run of coin from 1941 - 1957-D, ALL of which narrowly grade MS-65 to MS-66, with nice balance between the gem and very-gem grades, plus 1959 (MS-66). Finally, eight pieces conclude the offering, with dates of 1943-D, 1943-S, 1944, 1945, 1949-D, 1952-D, 1958, and 1958-D, uncertified, but all for sure grading in the MS-63 to MS-66 range.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
