Lot Title: 1945 ANACS MS-62 FSB
Lot Number: 405
Description: Tim Moeller Collection. Population: 144 with full-split bands in all grades, PCGS and NGC combined. The question for a 1945 dime designated as having full split bands is always: "But, will it cross?". In this case, one would certainly hope so, since the central bands do, indeed, appear to offer full segregation between the upper and lower borders. The 1945 dime is undoubtedly the most familiar "strike rarity" in the entire numismatic catalog for U.S. coins, since it is an extremely common date at every grade -- EXCEPT with a full band designation, in which case, it is a prohibitive rarity at every grade. In this case, not only does the designation seem apropos, but even the ANACS MS-62 numeric grade actually appears conservative, aside from very delicate diagonal hairlines on the portrait. One for the speculator with nerves of steel, for sure.
