Lot Title: Collections of Flying Eagle cents, Indian Head cents, Lincoln cents, Liberty nickels, Buffalo nickels, and Jefferson nickels in two Wayte Raymond albums
Lot Number: 361
Description: A formidable collection (really, multiple collections) becomes all the more appealing when one realizes the added value of the old, well-loved Wayte Raymond folders that protect the precious items within. Much could be mentioned about the coins comprising this group, but suffice it to say that only highlights for this southwest Missouri offering is all that can really be supplied, given space constraints. Flying eagle and Indian cents lack 1864 CN, 1870, 1871, 1872, 1878 and 1909-S, as well as 1856, naturally. What remains includes the key 1877 (AG/G) and 1908-S (VF), as well as a number of coins that display at least part of LIBERTY. Lincoln cents get full representation from 1909 - 1959, including some trivial 1960s pieces. Highlights might include: 1909-S VDB (Fine but with slight surface roughness), 1909-S (AU, perfect color and much luster), 1911-D (AU), 1914-D (F+), 1914-S (AU), 1917-D (XF), 1931-S (UNC), and a typical sprinkling assortment of red UNC examples in later dates. Only the later half of a Liberty nickel collection has spaces, but includes coins from 1903 through 1912-S (G-6). Then a complete collection of buffalo nickels takes over, with no varieties included. Better pieces here includes: 1913-D type-2 (G/light porosity), 1913-S type-2 (F-12, an unusually tough grade for the date), 1914-D (VG), 1915-S (VG), 1916-S (VF), 1921-S (VG), and 1926-S (F). The Jefferson nickel collection is mostly of lower grade, with all of the preceding in one album, while the second album contains backup collections. Lincoln cents missing from here are 1909-S, 1909-S VDB, 1911-S and 1913-S, but included are 1914-D (VG/environmental damage), and numerous later gem red cents, plus three much nicer steel cents. Ten common Liberty nickels are included, while the buffalo nickel set lacks seven pieces. And finally, this second Jefferson nickel collection is complete through 1956.
