Description: Berry Tree Collection. 47 graded MS-65, 13 higher at NGC. Often referenced as the fourth key to the set (after the obvious key status of 1885, 1886 and 1912-S), 1888 shows a low enough population at either grading service to affirm that opinion. Prooflike examples exist, and even here, startling luster yields to a slight hint of reflectivity on the obverse, while the reverse is fully frosted. Delicate almond-silver patina consummates the satisfying visual presentation.
