Although PCGS has tied this superb gem 1902 with others as being the finest known, NGC claims to have seen several even finer pieces, although an in-hand comparison obviously defies practicality. Whatever the case may be, the 1902 certainly must rank as an ideal type selection, with this an impeccable example that nears perfection. Shimmering satin frost endows the medium-gold surface with ideal eye-appeal, and every single detail has been brought up with extreme precision, including several lazy, wispy raised lines that resulted from polishing of the dies. There are no mentionable copper spots.
