Description: Delightful, luminous lemon-gold color emanates from the surface, filling both sides with edge-to-edge luster and more than a semblance of frosty semi-prooflike appeal. There are simply zero marks on either side to detract, and one suspects that only delicate abrading each side -- a near inevitability for any softer gold coin of the era -- takes responsibility as a grade-limiting factor. 1834 most often serves type purposes as the first date struck for the "classic head" design.
