Description: 1896-O has a nasty reputation as one of the premier "grade rarity" issues in the Morgan dollar series. Circulated examples are so common that they often show up in "90% face" accumulations, but AU examples begin to sort into the "hundreds of dollars" category, and mint-state examples can command exorbitant prices on the open market. This AU-58 faces up as a frosty white UNC example at first glance, though prudent inspection finds trivial friction over the ear and across the eagle's talons.
