Description: Although the 1864 "small motto" is the only other issue that contends for key status within the 2-cent series, the 1872 still stands as the single most challenging key, commanding roughly twice the value of its competitor. Presence of "WE" is most often used to refine the precise grade for any circulated example, and at this, the NGC VF-25 level, the word is just barely perceptible, albeit to ghostly extent. An exquisite and very attractive, original example.
