Description: Gavin "John" Rose Collection. Snow-1. 11 graded MS-65 RD, 1 higher at PCGS. 1894 presents as a semi-key issue within the Indian cent series, particularly so at the gem level, and most especially with full, blazing mint red color as is ascribed this remarkable example. Further adding to the value, 1894 shows obvious repunching of each digit in the date, with the original digits slanting too far northeast of the correct position, and subsequent attempts failed to clear away the original digits. As can be inferred from the population reports, this example stands very close to being the finest known, with a single MS-66 RD certified at PCGS.
