Description: In the AU range, 1895-S exceeds the value of its New Orleans cousin, although the latter escalates much more rapidly at the UNC levels and higher. That being said, 1895-S is no slouch in this regard, and the price tag at least doubles in MS-60. This AU-53 example displays exceptionally original grey surfaces that will prevent it from standing in for UNC (i.e., it has never been cleaned or dipped), but nevertheless, each side features pleasing cartwheel effect and evidence of merely brief wear. Few isolated reed marks on the cheek represent the only noticeable abrasions.
