Description: 1893-S carries such an enormous price tag in even the most basic UNC grade that the pressure of demand has caused AU examples to cost as much as a decent economy car. That in turn puts choice the XF population in demand, especially when a certified example offers as much mint luster as this PCGS XF-45. Sparkling texture between the stars would start the discussion for AU, although not quite enough flowline texture remains in the fields to warrant an upgrade. Fragile peach tones join up with the prevalent silvery whiteness to suggest reasonably original surfaces. A great coin, doubly desirable since it lacks noticeable contact marks, and features smooth patina.
