Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1887/6 PCGS MS-64DMPL (green label)
Lot Number: 812
Description: VAM-2 (Top-100) identifies easily once the famous overdate is noticed. As a DMPL, any Morgan dollar struck with such reflective production creates this kind of eye-appeal only if the dies have been heavily repolished. As such, it can be surprising that the under-digit "6" in the date would still be visible, yet use of a loupe readily finds portions of the effaced digit on either side of the lower stem of the "7". One cannot be sure that the "DMPL" would pass muster today, but for certain, the coin generates incomparable eye-appeal, replete with impeccable alabaster-white surfaces, aside from a splash of apricot-gold along the obverse lower right.
