Description: 1884-S is famous as a common date up through AU, and a major key at MS-60 and above. Indeed, the current grey sheet suggests that a basic UNC example is worth a 3300% markup over an AU-50, making borderline mint-state representatives very compelling for the astute collector. Considerable cinnamon-grey patina embraces this remarkable, fully lustrous example, and the only indication of actual wear appears at the exact center of the obverse, where the curls above the ear manifest a minor shift in hue. The reverse literally grades MS-62 all by itself.
