Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1882-CC PCGS MS-67
Lot Number: 785
Description: 69 graded MS-67, three higher at PCGS. VAM-3 has spikes that enter into the eagle's right (observed) wing. Given vast representation in the GSA hoard releases of the 1970s, 1882-CC is always available in typical mint-state grades, but the landscape changes dramatically at the MS-67 level. Fewer than a handful have been certified above MS-67 at PCGS, and on top of that, this poignantly toned example surely rests at the pinnacle of the grade. A vivid rainbow blazes across the top of the obverse, and both sides are enlivened by the ultra-fine matte luster blazing through the fields. Technical aspirations include an absolutely full strike that leaves zero details unstruck.
