Description: Gavin "John" Rose Collection. 1873-S Arrows NGC MS-64 . WB-101 is the only die-pair known to have struck all 1873-S "with arrows" half-dollars, and given the remarkable sharpness for this example, it may have been one of the earlier pieces to leave the dies. Although certainly not deemed a difficult issue in mundane circulated grades, this becomes an exceptionally tough coin to locate in any higher mint-state grade, especially with as much eye-appeal as this. Honey-gold toning splashes across nearly the entire surfaces, interrupted toward the lower periphery by lavish aqua-jade toning that shimmers along with the energetic mint luster. Close inspection of the reverse shows some nice strike doubling throughout the lettering at the lower reverse.
