Description: A key to the series in any grade, 1923-S is actually not that difficult to locate with reasonably nice definition, although UNC survivors prove elusive. Details at Liberty's head are a trifle soft, whereas the shield manages to display all the rivets. Whatever offended NGC in terms of "cleaning" for this blistering example does not offend the cataloger, nor will most bidders readily locate any obvious indications of abrasive treatment. One might assume that NGC drew an inference from the exceedingly white appearance that is admittedly a bit too bright to be natural.
