Lot Title: Error - 1941 Jefferson nickel struck on silver 10c planchet PCGS AU-50
Lot Number: 275
Description: Gavin "John" Rose Collection. That the host dime planchet was silver is no surprise since it would have been intended for a Mercury dime in 1941, but the unintended result is obviously a silver "pre" war time nickel. A wrong-planchet striking of this era is far scarcer than those struck in the 1960s, and especially desirable with a date that can be positively determined, and this particular error is comparable to the famous 1943 copper cent blunder. GREAT stuff!
