Lot Title: 1936 Satin PCGS, PR-66 CACCAC
Lot Number: 261
Description: The storyline is that collectors didn't care for the satin proof finish because it too closely mimics the finish of circulation strike coins, but many collectors (the present cataloger included) will pursue a satin example for type purposes, as properly preserved examples offer inimitable sharpness and tactile nature not possible with the brilliant issues. This is a drop-dead gorgeous example, as it should be for the PF-66 level (affirmed by CAC) in spite of carbon specks in front of the Indian's lips and another at OF -- the only perceptible grade-limiting factors. Bone-grey patina drapes the entire coin, the subtle, humble effect emphasized by unpretentious, dull (which is a POSITIVE disclaimer for a satin proof) luster.
