Description: Bradford Pear Collection. An exceptional strike has produced most of the finest intricacies within the left ear of corn -- no small feat for a branch-mint Liberty nickel. Aside from the lofty grade (and the allure of the old NGC no-line holder), what sets this 1912-S nickel above and beyond competitors in like grade is the strictly original surface quality, lovingly preserved for decades within the slab, and thus ensuring stable surface color. A number of gems have joined the population since this olive-silver and ice-blue example was certified decades ago, but most cannot approach the refreshing, honest quality of this key-date example. Iridescent album toning dissipates beautifully through most color bands in the rainbow on the obverse, while the reverse displays a lustrous shimmering effect with a wide swath of pearl-blue patina, decorated above and below by glowing sunset-gold patterns.
