Description: Gavin "John" Rose Collection. 167 graded MS-64, 17 higher at PCGS. Although recognized only as a so-called "better date" in grades below the present MS-64, the 1924-D becomes uncomfortably difficulty at this grade, and launches into the ionosphere at the gem level and higher. This proves out by simple observation of the PCGS population report, which assuredly contains many resubmission attempts. Blazing, smooth luster permeates this lovely example, generating excellent eye-appeal once combined with a crisp strike. A single, intermittent light scratch across the central torso probably ascertains the grade, but also provides the only noticeable abrasion.
