Description: Housed in its original velvet presentation box with the initials A.F. to the top, here's a Napoleon III era French demi-parure that has managed to survive many a year.The first thing noticeable when the box is opened is the scent of perfume, then you notice the gleam of yellow gold. Resting on the fitted black velvet interior are 3 pieces of jewelry - a bracelet, a pair of earrings and a pendant. The bracelet features a carved hardstone sardonyx cameo and is embellished with diamonds and pearls. The rose cut diamonds weigh approximately .75 cttw, SI clarity, I color. The four cream colored natural pearls are about 4mm each. The piece hinged on two sides and opens at the back. Slide-in catch with safety chain for added security. The cameo front section can be detached from the bracelet so that the "all gold" section can be worn on its own. Note: There is one pinprick ding to gold at the lower right of the cameo.The bracelet fits a size 7 wrist comfortably. Width of the gold section is .75". The hardstone sardonyx cameo piece is 1.50" x 1.25". Depth of the center section is .50" approx. Weight of the bracelet alone is 23.9 dwt. The earrings with cameos drop in a true left/right manner and the matched pair feature the same cameo design as the bracelet. Embellished with more rose cut diamonds and pearls, the top round of the main piece bears a stamped “poincon” indicating a French manufacture and 18K gold content. While the original ear wires have gone AWOL, the set displays a pair of 14K gold filled hook findings. Each earring measures 1.4" x .70". There are 12 rose cut diamonds as well as 5 natural pearls to each earring. Four of the diamonds are set within a "blackened" setting, the other 8 are brilliant white and match the color/clarity as mentioned above. The pearls measure 2mm and 2.5mm. Combined weight of the pair with ear wires is 6.8 dwt. The pendant is a perfect match to the other pieces in the set and was designed so that it could be worn two ways - as a pendant or as a brooch. Sadly, the pin finding has also gone AWOL. The pendant from the top of bale to the bottom measures 2.1" x 1.3". There are 17 diamonds and 7 pearls; grading is the same as mentioned above. Weight 12.6 dwt. The French Eagle hallmark can be seen on the back of the bale, the makers lozenge on the fold down bale. There are also scratched-in jewelers marks on the reverse that read 5398F. Possibly the custom order number. Overall, a very cool set to add to any true vintage jewelry lovers collection!
