Three 1864 Large Motto: Defective Planceht, Strikethrough, and RPD, as described

Lot Title:	Three 1864 Large Motto: Defective Planceht, Strikethrough, and RPD, as described
Lot Number:	837
Description:	A trio of 2-cent pieces cascaded from the consignor's personal upgraded collection. Included are: 1864 LM struck on defective planchet (XF, struck on a curiously compressed or irregular planchet that causes some absence of peripheral detailing on both sides), 1864 strike-through (UNC, with CENT partially obscured after being struck through unknown debris), and 1864 LM, repunched date (UNC RB, a little dull but still showing feeble luster). The latter coin has been documented in Flynn's reference for two-cent pieces and has a doubled "1", a bulbous "8", the "6" double-punched southwest, and "4" double, or possible triple-punched south. Fascinating stuff for this three coin lot!

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, CACG, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
