Description: Both ten-thousand pieces were minted per year between the 1904 and 1905 Lewis and Clark commemorative gold dollars, though it is widely believed that the majority of coins were melted after poor sales at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis. Tremendously original with orange-peel skin on the 1904 and a scantly abraded 1905, both models appear quite choice considering the conservative MS-62 designations. (CE)
