Description: Not much mars this 1788 Lima silver 8 reales, issued at the beginning of Charles III’s reign over Peru (which lasted until 1808). The colonial type just qualifies for the Mint State moniker. A streak of coal gray obscures the date, and a few flecks of soot are visible with close study of the elephant-gray surfaces of the popular type. (JS)
