Description: Charles III, 1786-Mo-Fm (Mexico City); Mint State 61 PCGS This late-reign 8 reales from Charles III may look as appetizing as a Hershey’s bar, but it’s made of silver. Undertones of orange accent the outer inscriptions on the left half of the obverse, yielding to rich mahogany across the rest of the coiner’s palette. What appears to be a planchet flaw is present on the lower middle reverse, extending to the top of the right column in the famous globe-and-columns (or Columnario) design. The charm and appeal of this coin are evident in hand. (JS)
