Description: 1932 “Birds over Junk” $1 KM-108, K-622. Part of China “Junk” dollar series, the last mass circulation strike Chinese silver dollar featuring bust of Sun Yat-sen and merchant ship reverse. The “Birds over Junk” variety jubilantly offered here is an exceptionally scare one-year type, one that was abruptly discontinued because of criticism that its design motifs appeared to have a pro-Japanese connotation. This was thought to be communicated through the combination of the rising sun and flying birds, interpreted to be pro-Japanese symbolism. Absolutely uncirculated and extremely choice considering the very conservative MS-61 assignment, seasoned China collectors will find exuberance in owning a mint-state example of this popular and sought-after issue.
