Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1871 PCGS MS-65 CACCAC
Lot Number: 957
Description: The Opa Collection. 34 graded MS-65, 21 higher at PCGS. While decently struck, some slightly incomplete details speak to the difficulty of striking hard nickel flans at the mint in the 1870s. 1871 might be considered a semi-key within the series, with a certified population plenty low enough to support that claim. In virtually every respect -- lack of contact, brilliance and strike -- the coin is a gem but CAC may have noticed two subtle blunt linear abrasions toward the right of the horizontal lines in the shield, thus limiting the grade..
