Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1830 PCGS MS-62PL
Lot Number: 945
Description: The Opa Collection. LM-9.2, R.4, identifies quickly with discovery of the filled upper loop of the second "S" in STATES. This appears to be Reiver state "b" before die cracks form through the left (observed) wing tip. More important is the blatant dead-on prooflike impression offered by both sides -- not unheard of for a coin clearly taken off of refinished dies. What makes that extremely interesting is that it appears to be in the same die-state that struck "true proof" examples for the date. Visually, one can perfectly match up the shape and side of the die chips in S1, S2 and M. While none of this can be taken as an argument to call this coin a proof rather than prooflike, the specialist is bound to enjoy spending time with this exquisitely intriguing half-dime.
