Description: While not as scarce as the preceding year's New Orleans emission, 1897-O secures its reputation as a grade rarity that sees thousands of certified examples up through AU-58 then experiences a huge decline in availability at UNC, and in particular within choice grade levels. Here is a rather well struck example with frosty texture and overall platinum-blonde patina that gains some crumbles of olive-bronze nearer the rims. The cheek and obverse fields are reasonably free from abrasion while the reverse seems particularly choice for the grade.
