Considered the third scarcest Friedberg number for the ever-popular Black Eagle series, such notes can sometimes be found in very high grade, providing ample type potential. The arresting eye-appeal of this intensely brilliant and smartly centered superb example are fully commensurate with expectations, yet it is hard to believe that more than a handful of Fr.231s have actually achieved superb status. Careful examination finds three pinpoint sharp corners out of four, pure white paper that is completely free from ink speckling, and deeply embossed intaglio printing.
