Description: 2 graded PR-68, zero higher at NGC, tying this coin as the finest known at NGC in non-cameo format. That being said, a mere glance is sufficient to affirm at least a semblance of cameo contrast. The presence of rich amber toning throughout may be slightly attenuating available distinction between mint frost and mirrored fields, but truly, this appears to be a brilliant proof striking. The cataloger also notes sparse occasions of light haze on the obverse while the reverse seems pristine.

A single pair of dies produced all known strikes for the final year of Liberty proofs. While both dies were clearly well produced. a tiny tine rests atop the dentil below the right base of "1" in the date, irrevocably attesting to proof status. The usual four horizontal die lines in the second space of the shield are also plainly visible. Razor sharp and an amazingly beautiful, near-perfect coin.
