Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1888 CACG PR-66CAM
Lot Number: 293
Description: Ex-NGC where it was also graded the exact same PR-66 CAM (SN: 3048577-001). Proof emission rivaled that of circulation strikes in 1888 but the planchet would have had to be specially prepared in order to exhibit the present degree of contrast. While not truly reflective, the fields shimmer with very understated luster and nearly disappear into blackness under some viewing angles. As befits a powerfully struck proof, the extremes of the flan erupt into a knifelike edge. Post-mint impairment really cannot be detected on the obverse, but on the reverse, a singular hairline splits "O" in DOLLAR and another lengthy abrasion in the extreme right field can hardly be detected because of the brilliant glittering surrounding texture.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, CACG, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
