Lot #: Go
Lot Title: Bolivia - (1651-1652) 7 1/2 reales - PCGS VF-25
Lot Number: 175
Description: KM# C19.1, a 7 1/2 reales cob with the official counterstamp by decree that indicates inferior silver net weight. Silver content was intended to be 93 parts per 100 but during the Great Potosi Mint Fraud of 1649, actual silver content was found to be much less than the official mandate (in some cases, 75% net of the intended silver content). An effort was made to increase silver content, resulting in the present 7 1/2 reales, so-called because the newer "rodases" coins were much better than the heavily debased scandalous emissions, but still fell short of the full 8-reales value.
Estimate: $1,300-$1,500
Lot Status: This lot is not yet open for bidding.

Please Note: An 18% Buyers' Premium is added to the hammer price of all lots in this sale.
