Lot Title: Multiple - Three gold ancient coins
Lot Number: 164
Description: CC Connelly Collection. On multiple counts, an astonishing trio, the consignor presents these gold pieces in what appear to be custom hand-made 2x2 holders that look very much like the precursor to modern slabs. Remarkable, even if individual coin weights cannot be recorded. All are listed in descending physical dimension with [Cataloger grade ESTIMATES] provided. First is misidentified, correctly attributed as SB-1912, Alexios I Komnenos hyperpyron [Fine]. Second is correctly identified RIC-162, Constantius II solidus [very-fine but a bit overly cleaned], this coin not "rare" as stated but popular for the unusually finely depicted reverse design. Third and final is also correctly identified Price-164, Alexander the Great, Macedon stater [Fine], worn more than is usual for the type but delightfully problem-free. Three coin lot.
Estimate: $4,200-$4,600

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, CACG, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
