Lot Title: 1833 PCGS MS-63RD
Lot Number: 1077
Description: The Opa Collection. Cohen-1. 3 graded MS-63 RD, 13 higher at PCGS. When a collector is fortunate enough to locate a certified coronet-head half-cent designated as "RD", chance are very good that it will be 1833 C-1 since a hoard was discovered by the Guttag brothers in New York City about a century ago. Although this example appears to be preserved to a about the same level of quality as a typical hoard coin, it does not seem as spotted as some, despite a broad greyish area on the reverse. Further, the exemplary strike seems indicative of a hoard coin, for which many examples were described as having "strong strikes".
