Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1879 PCGS MS-66
Lot Number: 708
Description: Mintage: 4800. 50 graded MS-66, 33 higher at PCGS. The first year of extremely limited mintages out of Philadelphia, the 1879 has the added difficulty of distinguishing true proof examples from the plethora of fully prooflike coins that prevail for the date. In this case, however, there can be zero doubt as to proper attribution because this gleaming, satin-white very -gem coin also features the extensive frosty texture seen for sure only on circulation strikes. Pinpoint-accurate details show everywhere except at the left talon, where segmentation did not quite get struck up to perfection. Stunningly clean surfaces exhibit zero mentionable contact marks.
