Lot Title: South Africa - Three 1953 Elizabeth II Coronation Medals, bronze, silver, and gold, all PCGS
Lot Number: 278
Description: Laidlaw#0094, mintage: 1000 for the three-medal set. Two-medal sets were also issued and are more common. Queen Elizabeth II was crowned on June 2, 1953, the historic event marked by striking of this trio of coronation medals, obverse engraved by Thomas Humphrey Paget. They were originally issued as a set of three and would have been received in an oblong, blue mint South Africa Mint case; alas the case is not available here although the silver example plainly shows toning induced by vintage storage.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, CACG, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
