Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1856 Flying Eagle NGC PR-45
Lot Number: 896
Description: Snow-5, identifiable right away by noting a point on the bottom of "U" in UNITED, and a tiny dot inside the upper left serif of "N" in CENT. A sensational-for-the-grade Flying eagle cent garners the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award almost by virtue of pristine surface quality alone, with smooth placid fields surrounding beautifully high relief design elements. Deep, dusky olive-brown color could not possibly be more ideal for a lightly worn 1856, yet circulation was kind, imparting absolutely no distracting marks or spots. One ancient, faint hairline descends from "M' in AMERICA but blends completely into the surface.
