Description: If not downright stunning, then assuredly a memorable representative of a bag-common date (to the tune of a third of a million certified!) within the series, Beginning at the obverse periphery, one finds an irregular but fairly steady progression of swirling lapis lazuli, ocean-blue, midnight-purple, magenta-orange and pink rose that must be seen to be believed. The reverse offers humbler album toning that is no less desirable for originality. On a technical note, the coin could not be nicer as a gem, showing no obvious marks on the neck or cheek, and sporting clean fields aside from a fully toned-over scrape at the obverse right. This dollar hands-down should have earned a "star" at NGC, but even if it did not, it certainly earns the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award for outright eye-appeal.
