Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1882 $5 Brown Back - Norwalk, CT Serial Number 1. Charter #754 - PMG F-12/splits
Lot Number: 20
Description: The Fairfield County National Bank of Norwalk, Connecticut. SERIAL NUMBER 1, and the only known existing #1 note off of the most populous county in Connecticut. On the northern shore of Long Island Sound, Norwalk nearly wanders off the far southwest corner of the state's map as it finds itself inside of the New York metropolitan area. One of perhaps a dozen #1 brownbacks known, this example shows heavy creases, flattened within the holder of course, numerous edge chips and two noticeable edge splits. Nevertheless, the ink presents relatively boldly and both signatures remain visible in large, tan penmanship.
