Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1879 PCGS PR-68CAM CACCAC
Lot Number: 625
Description: The First Through Last Collection. 2 graded PR-68 CAM, zero higher at PCGS, tying this for finest-known at the cameo designation. More important, this silver dollar possesses utterly devastating eye-appeal, ranking among the best the cataloger has ever seen. The fields display watery and reflective character while delightful mint frost blankets all of the devices. Interestingly, the dies were lightly rusted at some point which is why a multitude of tiny raised pimples show over the portraits.

If one could go back in a time machine, one idea might be to store many more freshly minted silver dollars as this one was stored -- evidently in a sulfuric environment that induced incredibly beautiful jade-green, cobalt-grey, violet-gold and sunrise-magenta colors around areas of brilliance on each side. With regard to surface contact, a couple of extremely innocuous intrusions show just in front of the chin, the coin otherwise so perfect as to defy offering any pedigree markers. One cannot have such technical excellence mixed with ground-shaking aesthetics and not make the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award list .
