Lot Title: 1878-CC Trade PCGS MS-60 (green label)
Lot Number: 551
Description: High Promises Collection. 3 graded MS-60 (straight grade), 36 higher at PCGS. Type II / II. Unlike the case for the same date Morgan dollar, which is reasonably common, 1878-CC is the key to the Trade dollar series and extremely desirable in every grade. The assigned MS-60 might seem like a very low mint-state assessment for most series, but a straight uncirculated grade for any 1878-CC speaks volumes for how PCGS felt about quality of the present specimen. Today, "MS-60" usually precedes a details-only assessment since the straight numeric grade is so sadly neglected, and one could easily see this coin upgrading at any major service.

Fields nearly blaze with frosty mint luster and the surface remains virtually untoned and pristine. No major abrasions show up even under magnification, although a typical number of moderate bagmarks scatter across mostly the obverse. The strike created an especially well detailed presentation, even at the periphery where every single star displays full details.
