Lot Title: 1867 PCGS PR-64DCAM CACCAC
Lot Number: 462
Description: Ms. Anna's Collection. 24 graded PR-64 DCAM, 11 higher at PCGS. Contrast on the reverse rivals that of the best seen for the series while the obverse, certainly deserving of the same designation, shows slightly less contrast despite intense reflectivity. Evaluation of any proof Seated Liberty dollar for inclusion in a type set should rightly begin with examining the sharpness, and to that extent, this is an awe-inspiring post-Civil War example. Every obverse star folds inwards and upwards in such a way as to attain the maximum possible elevation from the plate-flat surface, and astonishing to those not used to viewing such precisely defined dollars, one can actually view the indentation of the thumbnail on Liberty's lower hand. On the reverse, all seven of the submerged stripes show mirrored effect except for a small amount of polishing frost in the upper rightmost stripe. Almond toning evenly bathes the entire surface and helps to downplay some delicate, wispy hairlines that help determine the grade.
