Lot Title: 1954 Proof Set and 1954 Mint Set
Lot Number: 257
Description: Big Sky Collection. The proof half-dollar has somehow acquired extremely attractive peripheral toning, with hints of color also invading the quarter, dime and nickel, while the cent remains brilliant fire engine-red. The mint set retains an original outer envelope addressed to Thomas W. Pinney of Detroit, although Roland W. Kluth was the original addressee, possibly a gentlemen who lived from 1920 - 1910 if an online obituary correctly matches. As anticipated, the coins exude absolutely vintage quality and attractive color, even if none possesses the outrageous toning sometimes favored by speculators. The postmark of Jan 19 indicates an early order for the set.
