Lot Title: Encased 1914-D Lincoln What cent NGC AU-58
Lot Number: 211
Description: Barry Holt Collection. The aluminum horseshoe frame itself, referenced to Band & Ratcliffe out of Pulaski, VA, has taken the brunt of wear but courageously protected the encased, key 1914-D cent which grades AU-58. The cataloger has seen only a single other example of this near-"Holy Grail" of encased cents. Unusually and unexpectedly attractive ebony-brown surfaces pervade for the cent, which also features an outstanding strike.

This lot may contain an item not certified by ANACS, PCGS, or NGC. While Scotsman Auction Co. is typically conservative in our descriptions of items not certified by one of these companies, we cannot guarantee our grading estimation will match their grade. We highly recommend that collectors seeking items certified by a third-party grading service only bid on items that have already been certified. No lot can be returned because of a variance in judgment with regards to grade.
