Lot #: Go
Lot Title: 1877 PCGS PR-65 CACCAC
Lot Number: 760
Description: Mintage: 350 (net after 160 were melted at the mint). 27 graded PR-65, 16 higher at PCGS. This is a breathtaking, and almost astounding proof type example in every way even under close examination. In fact, the quality practically begs for inspection as the surface throws off bright album colors -- rose-gold, indigo, sky-blue and cinnamon-chartreuse hues, just to name a few. PCGS did not provide any sort of special designation but the cataloger suggests there may be plenty enough contrast to warrant "cameo" consideration. It doesn't really matter, though, since coins this pretty speak for themselves, and a brilliant strike as well as fine preservation should be more than enough to explain why the Scotsman Cataloger's Choice Award applies. An absolutely mind-boggling piece that fully deserves the five-digit price tag likely required to take it home.
