Description: Nicholas Jackson Collection. Overton-105. To the right of star-5 is a couple of tines, star-6 is recut, and the bottom arm of star-7 ends in a bulb. NGC did not mention a "plain edge" but looking through the slab strongly suggests it. Often, O-105 shows weak strikes at the eagle's left (observed) wing, this example having classic symptoms of just that. Considered to be one of the more common 1809 varieties (R.2), this is nevertheless a whimsically attractive example for the grade. Unusual for O-105, hair curls and other central obverse details are generally well impressed, and the stars are all amazingly well defined. Lovely, attractive luster and frosty surfaces bear up nicely beneath pale salmon-grey at the centers, gradually changing to peach and vibrant turquoise-blue closer to the obverse borders.
