Description: 18 graded VF-35, 251 higher at PCGS. The population report is worth quoting because it is almost certainly heavily inflated in the upper regions by resubmissions which unfairly misrepresent the scarcity of 1873-CC. Still luminous, this near-XF specimen exhibits dove-grey patina in general, shading gently toward ashy colors closer to the rims. A pair of modest hairlines in the obverse lower right field will not deter anyone from pursuing this first-year Carson City.
