Description: Crazy Animal Collection. Judd-280 (R.7). The obverse die from regular half-dollar production was paired against a reverse die that also looks much like a circulation strike, except for the placement IN GOD WE TRUST directly into the field, rather than atop a fancy ribbon. While produced from at least a couple of different metal alloys, this example was struck on a classic copper planchet and now exhibits terrific chocolate-brown patina and pleasing lilac sheen under the right viewing angle. An absolutely incredible strike dominates the sharpness except for subtle weakness at a couple of upper stars on the obverse. A carbon spot flings out to the extreme right of the obverse.
